SILD was selected by Thompson Turner Construction as the site contractor for the development of the 20-acre East Edisto Middle School campus. This project involved extensive site preparation to accommodate the new 135,000-square-foot school building, including chemical stabilization of the building pad to ensure on-time delivery.
Utility construction was a key component of the project, with the installation of 2,000 linear feet of deep gravity sewer and an 8-inch water main to support the campus’s infrastructure needs. To ensure proper drainage, SILD placed over a mile of reinforced concrete storm drain pipe, designed to manage stormwater efficiently across the site.
The project also presented unique engineering challenges, including the construction of a wetland road crossing and the installation of a box culvert to maintain environmental integrity while providing safe and reliable access. Despite these complexities, SILD successfully completed the project on schedule in August 2022, delivering a well-prepared site for the future success of East Edisto Middle School.
