Sea Island Land Development (SILD) is proud to serve as the General Contractor for the Bridge Street Improvements Project in the Town of Bluffton, South Carolina. This municipal infrastructure project is designed to enhance pedestrian connectivity and improve public access through the installation of a new pedestrian bridge spanning Huger Cove, along with associated roadway and streetscape improvements.
SILD’s scope of work includes storm drainage installation, grading, curb construction, pervious paver installation, and sidewalk construction. The project incorporates sustainable design elements through the use of pervious pavers, which help manage stormwater runoff while enhancing the aesthetic character of the area.
The project presents several unique challenges, including construction within an active SCDOT roadway corridor, coordination around historic buildings, and the installation of a pedestrian bridge in a sensitive waterfront environment. Through careful planning and execution, SILD is delivering improvements that balance modern infrastructure needs with the preservation of Bluffton’s historic charm.
Working in partnership with the Town of Bluffton and Barrier Island Engineering, SILD is committed to providing a high-quality public space that will improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity for residents and visitors alike. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
