Sea Island Land Development (SILD) was selected by Charleston County to complete drainage improvements for the Stono Edge Ditch project on James Island, South Carolina. The project includes approximately 1,100 linear feet of ditch clearing and regrading designed to restore positive drainage flow and help alleviate longstanding neighborhood flooding concerns.
SILD’s scope of work consists of excavating and grading, with a strong focus on improving stormwater conveyance while working within a challenging site environment. Due to the project’s tight 30-foot easement and swamp-like ground conditions, our team utilized wooden construction mats to safely bridge the ditch and maintain access throughout construction.
Scheduled to begin in April 2026 with a targeted completion of June 2026, this public works project highlights SILD’s ability to execute specialized drainage and grading improvements in environmentally sensitive and logistically challenging conditions.
