Sea Island Land Development (SILD) was selected by Harper General Contractors, Inc. to perform site development for the Academic Magnet Athletic Improvements project in North Charleston, South Carolina. Developed for Charleston County School District (CCSD), this project will enhance the school’s athletic facilities through fieldhouse site preparation, new and upgraded athletic areas, parking and access improvements, and supporting infrastructure.
SILD’s scope of work includes land clearing, excavating, grading, public utilities, storm drainage installation, concrete work, and asphalt paving. Working alongside project engineer ADC Engineering, our team is responsible for preparing the site and installing the essential infrastructure needed to support the campus improvements.
One of the project’s primary challenges involves completing construction on an active school campus, requiring careful coordination, strategic phasing, and attention to existing infrastructure. Additional considerations include fieldhouse pad grading and compaction, salvaging existing pavers, coordinating storm drainage installation, and navigating potential underground utility conflicts near the athletic facilities.
Construction began in September 2026 and is scheduled for completion in April 2027, highlighting SILD’s experience delivering educational and municipal site development projects throughout the Charleston Lowcountry.
