This is a current project SILD is the site contractor for a local general contractor. This project is an expansion of an existing church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Work consists of removing existing trees, utilizing arborists and large excavators, to safely remove the trees without damaging the surrounding buildings and houses. All the existing storm drainage on the property had to be removed and replaced, while maintaining a functional construction site. Additional storm drain and outfall were installed to provide additional drainage. The church addition site had to be prepared by removing all unstructured soils and replacing with structural fill material. Existing water and sewer services relocated, while maintaining services to existing buildings.

St. Andrew’s Church held a groundbreaking and dedication ceremony on Wednesday. The construction project comes three months after flames tore through their ministry center destroying worship space, children’s classrooms, and offices – crews were able to contain it before flames spread to the historic chapel.The chapel was built in 1857 and holds approximately 250 of the churches 2,000 members.
Construction is expected to last between 18 to 24 months. They plan to pour cement within the next month and lay steal by early October. Rector Steve Wood says the community has gotten them to where they are now.
